Fact: Schneider Children's Hospital
is ranked #17 among children's hospitals in the US according to
Child Magazine.
Schneider Children's Hospital is a tertiary (teaching) hospital
committed to comprehensive care of children, from infants to young
adults, and is the center of the Health System's Children's Health
Network. The hospital has 154 beds arranged in separate units
on five floors. Each has its own nursing and social work staffs,
as well as playrooms. Schneider Children's Hospital treats everything
from childhood diseases to cancer and epilepsy in addition to
providing special services for Lyme Disease, the hearing impaired,
food allergies and dentistry among others. As a research hospital,
work is ongoing in areas such as depression, hyperactivity, cancer,
eating disorders and congenital malformations. The hospital's
SCH ON CALL Program provides pediatricians for families when their
own pediatrician is unavailable.

Did You Know:
- SCH is only one of three pediatric facilities in New York
State to have the life-saving Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygeneation
(ECMO) technology, an artificial heart-lung machine for extreme
cases of failure of these organs.
- SCH is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and the only NYS
hospital to have been granted exclusive Trauma Center status
for pediatric cases.
- SCH maintains the only emergency transport system for children.
