Mark Mittler, MD
Mark Mittler, MD, is co-chief of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Schneider Children's Hospital and the North Shore - Long Island Jewish Health System. He specializes in treating pediatric brain and spinal cord tumors. In addition to surgical neuro-oncology, Dr. Mittler's professional expertise includes vascular malformations, craniosynostosis, hydrocephalus, and traumatic brain injury. He has extensive experience with minimally invasive techniques including microneurosurgery, neuroendoscopy, and stereotactic radiosurgery.

Dr. Mittler received his medical degree from the University of Rochester. He received his neurosurgical training at Brown University / Rhode Island Hospital. He was chief resident at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Rhode Island, and an attending neurosurgeon at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, where he completed his fellowship training.

Dr. Mittler is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery. He is a member of the Pediatric Section of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He is one of approximately 150 members of the American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons. Dr. Mittler has published numerous articles and book chapters related to pediatric neurosurgical issues. He also serves on the New York State Medical Society Committee on Injury Prevention.

Steven Schneider, MD

Dr. Steven Schneider graduated Baylor College of Medicine (1982) & received his medical degree with high honors. He remained at Baylor College of Medicine & completed Neurosurgical residency program (1988). Seeking additional specialty training he joined world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Fred Epstein for a fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at NYU. Following this Dr. Schneider relocated to Long Island & joined Long Island Neurosurgical Associates where he became the first fellowship trained pediatric neurosurgeon on Long Island and remains a senior partner. He founded the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at North Shore University Hospital and he is currently the Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery for Schneider Children's Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Schneider is also Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery at Nassau University Medical Center
Dr. Schneider is active in multiple surgical societies and organizations covering the gamut of pediatric and functional neurosurgery. He serves on the advisory council of several foundations and is active in clinical research. This research has resulted in numerous journal and book publications, presentations & awards. He serves as an ad hoc editor for multiple scientific journals including Pediatric Neurosurgery. Current Board Certifications include: Diplomat of American Board of Neurological Surgeons, Diplomat of American Board of Pediatric Neurosurgery, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
