Mark Atlas, MD
Mark P. Atlas, MD, received his undergraduate degree from Brown University, graduating magna cum laude. He then completed his doctor of medicine degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Atlas completed his pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and then graduated from a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship, in Chicago, at Children's Memorial Hospital.

Upon completion of his extensive training, Dr. Atlas has worked as an attending physician in pediatrics, pediatric hematology/oncology, and stem cell transplant services, in hospitals such as Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, Winthrop University Hospital, Stonybrook University Medical Center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Children's Memorial Hospital and LBJ Tropical Medical Center in American Samoa.

In 2001, Dr. Atlas joined Schneider Children's Hospital as chief of the Brain and Spinal Cord Tumor Center, Attending Physician of Stem Cell Transplant Services, Chair of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Performance Improvement Committee and Head of the Hemoglobinopathy section of the Thalassemia program.

Dr. Atlas is a member of the NSLIJHS institutional review board and is an active participant in many research projects. He has been published in multiple journals including Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, American Academy of Pediatrics, and International Symposium on Cord Blood Transplantation.

Mark Atlas, MD, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and is board certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is a member of many professional societies including the American Association of Cancer Research, American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.


Arlene Redner, MD
Dr. Arlene Redner obtained her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She then completed her pediatric residency at Boston Floating Hospital, New England Medical Center in Boston, MA. After her residency, Dr. Redner finished her formal training in a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Dr. Redner is the Section Head of Clinical Oncology, Principal Investigator of the Children's Oncology Group, Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, and Co-Chair of The Childhood Brain and Spinal Cord Tumor Center at Schneider Children's Hospital.

Areas of specialty include: Neuro-oncology, soft tissue and bone sarcomas, neuroblastoma, Wilms tumor, leukemia and lymphoma.


Alyssa Quinlan, PA-C
Alyssa Quinlan received her undergraduate degree, in Biology, from Marist College. She then attended Hofstra University where she obtained a certification in Physician Assistant Studies, and graduated magnum cum laude, with the awards of highest clinical achievement and highest academic achievement.

After acquiring federal and state certification to practice as a physician assistant, Alyssa began working in Pediatric and Adult Neurosurgery at North Shore- Manhasset, Long Island Jewish and Schneider Children's Hospitals. It was there that she gained experience working with children and adults with brain tumors and other neurological diseases. She assisted the surgeons in the operating room, took care of patients admitted to the hospital and evaluated patients in the emergency room.

Alyssa is now a member of the Hematology and Oncology department at Schneider Children's Hospital. She is the Coordinator of the Childhood Brain and Spinal Cord Tumor Center as well as a Clinical Physician Assistant specializing in Neuro-oncology. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, The Children's Oncology Group, and The New York City Medical Reserve Corps. She is also a Site Coordinator for several research projects being performed, here, at Schneider Children's Hospital. She is currently working on a Masters of Public Administration at Baruch College, in New York City.

Nancy's professional career in social work for over 25 years includes service in the areas of pediatric hematology/oncology, child abuse prevention, special education, medical and bereavement hospice care. Her work with families has involved helping others transform experiences of trauma, illness, and grief.

Following graduate school, Nancy worked with the Preventive Services Program at the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service counseling families with experiences of physical and sexual abuse, domestic violence, and neglect. She held the positions of Social Worker, Senior Social Worker, and Supervisor. Nancy was also employed as a Supervisor of the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Program at Catholic Charities, Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens.

As a School Social Worker, Nancy counseled parents of disabled and seriously ill children in the special education program at the Interdisciplinary Center For Child Development. She led parent support groups, workshops, S.T.E.P. training courses, in-service trainings and advocated at District Reviews.

Nancy's experiences with hospice work included employment as a Bereavement Group Leader at Mercy Hospice where she led bereavement groups for widows and widowers, and adult children who experienced the loss of parents. She was employed as a Medical Social Worker at Hospice Care Network providing counseling to patients and families coping with terminal illness. Nancy had also worked with the Advanced Illness Coordinated Care Program, Dr. Daniel Tobin's project assisting with end of life care.

Nancy was previously employed as a Social Worker in the Pediatric Hematology/
Oncology Division at Schneider Children's Hospital and returned to the Division in the Brain Tumor Center in July 2007. In the Brain Tumor Center, Nancy provides emotional support, counseling and resources to patients and family members through the course of hospitalizations, diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and advanced illness. She assists with school advocacy, parenting concerns, financial coverage, family stresses, and provides referrals to community resources.

Nancy is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Association of Pediatric Oncology Social Workers, Children's Hospice International, Prevent Child Abuse New York, and the C.G. Jung Foundation For Analytical Psychology.
