Long Island

Schneider Children's Hospital and Schneider Children's Hospital at North Shore are located in suburban communities. The hospitals are located close to beaches, parks, sports arenas, cultural centers, and major transportation routes. It is only 30 miles by car or train to midtown Manhattan.

Long Island is considered one of the finest places in the country to work and live. It has miles of coastline on both its north and south shores with superb swimming, sailing, boating, water skiing and fishing opportunities. Sports fans, too, have a lot to cheer about. Professional baseball, basketball, hockey, football, lacrosse, soccer and tennis are played in nearby stadiums and arenas.

For those interested in the arts there is an incomparable choice of excellent museums, performing arts centers, theater, music and historic sites on both the Island and nearby New York City. The region's restaurants, which offer food from all over the world in a variety of settings, are in wonderful, unmatched abundance. Physicians with children will find excellent schools in nearby communities, fine day care centers, summer camps, and nursery school facilities. In addition, local libraries are noted for a broad range of programs.
