SCHNEIDER CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL AT NORTH SHORE

Residency Program

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to Schneider Children's Hospital and Schneider Children's Hospital North Shore and provide you with descriptive information about our graduate training program. One of the most important decisions in your professional and personal life is choosing a training program to enhance your career goals. The transition from medical student to pediatric resident and pediatric resident to attending physician is an exciting experience.

Schneider Children's Hospital is one of the largest training programs in the nation. Our commitment is to provide the highest standard of pediatric education through the delivery of state-of-the-art, comprehensive care in an academic and research-oriented environment. The Pediatric Training Program, in existence since 1954, is one of the country's most effective and prestigious. Supervised by more than 150 full-time faculty members who specialize in all subspecialty areas of pediatric medicine. Its fine reputation is based on generations of graduates who are now successful clinicians, researchers and academicians.

To ensure a positive experience for our residents, we provide personalized, one-on-one training. Each new house officer is assigned a mentor who is responsible for ensuring a well-rounded, high-caliber, enjoyable three years of training through individualized feedback and discussion. A Core Curriculum with well-defined educational goals has been developed for all rotations and electives. This is fully integrated into bedside teaching and covers the entire training experience.

The training program encompasses the full gamut of pediatrics from well-baby care and preventive medicine to emergency, intensive care and subspecialty services. Special programs include the Child Development Center, Asthma Center, Epilepsy Center, Child Protective Service, Heart Institute, Apnea Program, Cystic Fibrosis Center, Lyme Disease Center, Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit and the Critical Care Transport Program.

We are most pleased that you have chosen Pediatrics as your career. The commitment to the care of infants, children and adolescents is one of the most rewarding experiences for a physician. Few other specialties can make such an impact on the future of our nation.

We look forward to having you visit us and share in our vision.

Sincerely,
